Hotel Spotlight: St. Julien Hotel & Spa

August 24, 2018
Initially, my travels were going to take me to St. Julien Hotel & Spa June of 2018 for the Ironman race, a knee injury had me postpone to August of 2018. When I finally did visit, I was so excited to experience what “the most elegant hotel in Boulder” was all about! The first thing that struck me was that they had the option of valet or self park. I like to take my time and organize my car, come and go without having to call down to valet, etc., so I really appreciated the self-park option. Believe it...

Hotel Spotlight: Four Seasons Denver

July 29, 2018
I felt so lucky for the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons Denver. Ever since my parents told me that they married at the Four Seasons (Toronto) when I was a kid, I’ve always wanted to experience one. I’ve stayed at quite a few over the years (with most recently, FS Scottsdale), but never have I stayed in one in a city (usually, just nature). I was really pleasantly surprised with this one. The staff were wonderful and helpful, as always. Valet was a breeze (sometimes, even at luxury hotels, it can be cramped, not here!). The rooms...

Hotel Spotlight: Vintners Inn

July 24, 2018
Many people travel to Wine Country to get that feel that they’re truly in Tuscany, that’s the great thing about America, being so diverse in cultures and landscapes, we have so many different places to see, eat, and explore that makes one almost feel as though they’re actually in that country. That’s what I loved most about Vintners Inn. The French and Tuscan inspired sophisticated charm made this place hard to leave, if even for a wine tasting! The vine-wrapped balcony with sweeping vineyard views and chirping birds was peaceful and divine, and there was not one moment spent where I...

———Reflection:
These events for me are more than just trying to look pretty on a carpet. It’s an opportunity to face my fears and overcome my own personal adversities.A year ago, I was in a very different place; going to these events, but not putting in much effort nor really caring about my appearance. I just went for the movie or show and then came home. But now, I attend for many other reasons. I realize it might come off as egotistical when I post these, but to me, there’s a much deeper narrative, one that I’m constantly writing, challenging and improving upon. With each event, I strive to tackle my social anxiety and lack of self confidence - both of which came to be upon completion of my trip around the world as a result of all of the bullying I had received. That constant antagonism became engraved into my soul - no one teaches you how to handle that stuff, but it made an impact on how I valued my self worth even despite the then wild success of my endeavors. These events are a moment in time where I can crawl out from the depths of which I am “surviving”, to see how far I’ve come; physically, emotionally, mentally, and how much further I still have to go.It’s a moment in time that stands still, before I’m back burrowing into the ground. And I don’t mean to be dramatic - there is currently so much struggle happening in my life that I wish I could openly share. One day.Alas, for now, I’ll enjoy these little moments where I’m floating, and I hope you do, too ☺️.
