Hotel Spotlight: Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay

June 24, 2018
The Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay has been on my bucket list for sometime now, so when they agreed to partner with me on a stay, I was thrilled, to say the least! Every evening at sunset, this older, Scottish man would play the bagpipes, and everyone, including myself, wine in hand, would watch in awe, admiring his skill. It was fabulous. I’d say that was my most memorable moment at the RCHMB, with the other being the incredible views from nearly every hotel room window of the wild Pacific bluffs. Every morning, I’d go for a stroll along...

Hotel Spotlight: Rush Creek Lodge Yosemite

May 20, 2018
Throughout my youth I was raised in small towns full of natural exploration. Living in such a small town, I was never in tune with nature as much as my brother was (who is now ironically an Organic Farmer). Now that I’m older, I’ve come to love the secluded splendor that raw nature has to offer. My travels brought my family and I to Rush Creek Lodge in Yosemite and boy, were we excited! Waking up to a warm gas fire and opening the blinds to panoramic views of lush pines and soaring mountains made me feel so at...

Hotel Spotlight: Sanará Tulum

March 14, 2018
According to their website, the “Sanará’ Tulum was elected #3 in the 150 Greatest Hotels in the World by Harper’s Bazaar in 2017 as well as Conde Nast “Gold” award”. Can you say, impressive?! And I totally see why. I was born with an eye for class and luxury. I didn’t ask for it, but likely inherited it from my mom, since she thinks the same way. Whenever I see something beautiful, it’s always the most expensive of the bunch. It’s a blessing and a curse. What this means when it comes to hotels is that I always want to...

———Reflection:
These events for me are more than just trying to look pretty on a carpet. It’s an opportunity to face my fears and overcome my own personal adversities.A year ago, I was in a very different place; going to these events, but not putting in much effort nor really caring about my appearance. I just went for the movie or show and then came home. But now, I attend for many other reasons. I realize it might come off as egotistical when I post these, but to me, there’s a much deeper narrative, one that I’m constantly writing, challenging and improving upon. With each event, I strive to tackle my social anxiety and lack of self confidence - both of which came to be upon completion of my trip around the world as a result of all of the bullying I had received. That constant antagonism became engraved into my soul - no one teaches you how to handle that stuff, but it made an impact on how I valued my self worth even despite the then wild success of my endeavors. These events are a moment in time where I can crawl out from the depths of which I am “surviving”, to see how far I’ve come; physically, emotionally, mentally, and how much further I still have to go.It’s a moment in time that stands still, before I’m back burrowing into the ground. And I don’t mean to be dramatic - there is currently so much struggle happening in my life that I wish I could openly share. One day.Alas, for now, I’ll enjoy these little moments where I’m floating, and I hope you do, too ☺️.
