Our second to last stop on our trip to Costa Rica

Our second to last stop on our trip to Costa Rica was the incredible @casachameleonhotels 😍. One of the most beautiful, quiet and romantic boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in during my travels. I could tell they put a lot of effort into their sustainability practices, which is something I really value in hotels. From the energy efficient lighting and eco-friendly products, to their responsibly managed forest wood products and landscaping, to their sustainable food supply chain… I’m a sucker for sustainable and regenerative hotels ♻️.
And it can be a tough balance when combining both luxury and sustainability, but when a hotel does it right, there’s nothing like better. A do-good, feel-good experience 🤩.
For over a decade now, it’s been on my bucket list to develop my own sustainable/regenerative boutique hotel chain. It’s a big goal, but maybe one day. Until then, I enjoy staying in, and doing business with these types of hotels so I can both better learn for myself, and educate the world on what’s out there 🌺 #responsibletourism📷: @james.brockmeyer

One of my favorite things about travel is connecting with locals who can give you incredible insight to their country, as well as the off-the-beaten path places and experiences. Bernal of @ticotoursguanacaste truly took us under his wing, hosting us and showing us the best of what Guanacaste and Costa Rica has to offer. He’s an incredible person and his tour company, that he pours everything into, offers just about every experience you could imagine. Definitely check them out if you visit Guanacaste! On this day, he took us ATVing and after, to a local spot for an incredible lunch 🐠. His company is located right at @elmangroovehotel, super convenient if staying there. Pura Vida 🤙🏼!P.S. don’t ask why I wore white 😂

Who else is feeling super inspired after watching

Who else is feeling super inspired after watching the men’s Olympic Triathlon race yesterday?! Can’t wait for the women’s today! I have a long course triathlon in a month and the Olympics are just the motivation I need right now 👏🏼.

Our next stop in Guanacaste was @elmangroovehotel 🌴. I made sure to get both ocean and lap sessions in while here as, obviously Ironman training doesn’t stop even while on vacay! This was the only hotel we visited that had a lap pool, which was where you could find me bright and early 🐣. I don’t know about you, but there’s nothing like an early morning when traveling. The air is fresh, it’s quiet, the smells of nature and little towns are distinctive and eclectic, and it’s the best time to see and hear wildlife. Oh! And thanks @james.brockmeyer for being a champ and getting up at dawn to dive under water and snap these pics 😆💙

Freediving! Have any of you ever been? As a swimmer, this is something I’ve always been keen on trying but haven’t have the chance until recently. Though visibility conditions were kind of poor, it felt euphoric to test my limits and dive deep into the abyss 🐙🐠. This was actually a tour at @andazpapagayo and our guide was so chill with letting us take our time and get comfortable. I’d never seen freediving offered as a tour at a resort before but had to jump on it. Definitely want to go again 🤘🏼🌊
